Japan: The wild world of Japanese culture!

Nelson and Allie with the beautiful blossoms in Ueno
Tokyo! The world of electronics, Japanese baseball, sushi, and very interesting and unique culture! We loved Japan and have vowed to come back and explore more. Their culture is extremely unique. The Japanese are very orderly, respectful, and very willing to help. Although there was a large language barrier, as they hardly speak any English, we found the Japanese to be very friendly. We were lucky enough to be there during the annual sakura, which is Japanese for Cherry Blossom Viewing. The beautiful cherry blossoms were in full bloom. We visited a fresh fish market, saw fascinating temples, and ate some amazingly fresh sushi! We found the city to be very clean and extremely modern with a complex metro system that made our head spin! Enjoy our journey through Tokyo. Next, we leave Asia and head for our final continent, Europe!

No smoking and no cell phones in this restaurant. At least we think thats what it says!

Typical Japanese meal of miso soup, salad, rice, and mixed meats. Good luck with the chopsticks. No forks here!

Crab anyone?
More fresh fish!
All different kinds of fish patties
Famous and delicious sushi spot in the fish market. We had to stop for lunch.

Preparing the sushi right in front of you.
Super fresh!
Delicious!
Love all the shoes lined up so neatly.
Downtown Tokyo, we found that if the pedestrian light was red, no one would even budge into the crosswalk, even if there was no car in sight for miles! As New Yorkers we were dumbfounded by this!
Beautiful blossoms in Ueno Park
During the Sakura season, people come out and have picnics under the blossoms. This is how we spent our Easter Sunday.

The view from our picnic spot under the blossoms.

Old Town Tokyo

We think this says "Happy Easter."
Octopus anyone?

Typical public toilet in Tokyo. Hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go!
So you walk into a nice restaurant and find this at the door. This "vending machine" takes your order and your money for your meal.
Good luck trying to pick something you want! Its pretty much a guess as to what you will get!
Steak! Successful mystery order!
A Japanese bride with her entourage!
Beautiful pastries.

Need to save a table at Starbucks? Just put your purse down to save it! Yes, this is how safe Tokyo is!
If you need your waitress for anything, just press the button on your table and your table number is displayed on an electronic screen throughout the restaurant. Your waitress will come to your aid in a moments notice!
Free wifi in the subway station. What a concept!
How fitting that in "The land of the rising sun," (hence the Japanese flag), we see the sun rising as we boarded our flight to London.
